Al Watania livestock project is involved in raising local breeds of lamb, in particular “Naimy” and “Najdi” breeds. Other breeds of sheep and goats are also reared under an intensive production system, The project also using the latest electronic management program which used in some countries in the world to management the herds of sheep, goats and camels. And it recorded the data for each animal in electronic records and tagging, Also it sorted and weighed electronically read by electronic draft. The project also includes sub-projects for raising camels and rabbits. All the animals are fed a completely natural diet of alfalfa and other natural fodders which are grown on the site. A Dairy plant for processing sheep, goat and camel milk into different dairy products is also part of the project.
In recognition of the very high standard in animal production Watania livestock project was awarded the ISO 9001 certificate. Animal health is of paramount importance and the project is equipped with the most modern technical and laboratory facilities, backed by well-qualified veterinary staff. Such are the efforts for perfection and environmental protection that the project even processes the sheep manure for use as an organic fertilizer for Al-Watania agricultural projects.
Al Watania livestock is lead by the best work team with the highest efficiencies either in science and practical expertise or from the quality lab which contains the latest equipment and machinery to insure its lack of any diseases. Regular training programs and workshops are organized for the employees to update their knowledge on technological advances in the field. We also train and preparing technicians, especially Saudis, through organizing training courses around the year and throughout the production seasons.
