Agriculture Production
Al Watania Agriculture Company in Al-Jouf is one of the pioneering agricultural projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the late 1980s, the company was among the first to cultivate traditional olive trees. It now possesses 350,000 traditional olive trees, which produce some of the finest organic extra virgin olive oil. In 2006, the project was also a pioneer in planting high-density olive groves. The company currently manages 3.5 million high-density olive trees, with plans to double that number. The Company produces over 3 million liters of organic extra virgin olive oil annually from its Al-Jouf location, making it one of the largest and earliest olive producers in the Kingdom. Additionally, Al Watania Agriculture Company project in Al-Jouf cultivates processing tomatoes across more than 1,300 hectares annually, utilizing a drip irrigation system. This makes it one of the largest open-field processing tomato projects in the Middle East and the sole producer of processing tomatoes in the Kingdom. The project also includes 8,500 Barhi date palms, which are among the highest-quality date varieties. The project intends to resume potato cultivation and reclaim its position as one of the largest potato producers in the Kingdom, supplying both processing and table varieties. By growing a specified quantity of wheat annually for the General Food Security Authority, the project contributes to enhancing Saudi Arabia's food security. Furthermore, Al Watania Agriculture Company project in Al-Jouf includes over 250,000 diverse fruit trees (peach, apricot, grape, almond, and apple), which help fill a significant gap in the domestic production of these agricultural products.
